The Lewisboro Planning Board on Tuesday continued its review of the Old Post Tavern proposal, which would include a new restaurant, marketplace store and a greenhouse at the intersection of Routes 35 and 121.

Skaz Gecaj and John Swertfager are the contract vendees. The site is owned by Robert Valenti and Michael Mongiello. Old Post Tavern would be located on a roughly 2-acre property at 902 Route 35, Cross River.

Planning Board Chair Janet Andersen said that a site visit was recently conducted on the property. The attendees viewed such areas as where the proposed septic system would be located and where the restaurant parking lot would be situated.

The site visit “gave us a better understanding of the layout,” Andersen said. Representatives of the Westchester County Department of Health are scheduled to tour the property in August, she noted.

The Planning Board instructed town staff to create a resolution to declare it the lead agency for the review of the project which could be approved at the board’s next meeting Aug. 18.
