Caller wants mom arrested

Police went to a home in South Salem Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m., after a caller reported that her mother, highly intoxicated, was fighting with the caller’s sister-in-law at the sister-in-law’s home. There was a request (not honored) that the woman be jailed. A phone was thrown into a lake and the mother, police said, threatened to hit the officers who put her in handcuffs and took her to a hospital to be treated for intoxication.

Monday, March 3

9:30 a.m. — Trespass was reported at a business office site on Route 22, Goldens Bridge, after the building owner said a homeless man had been entering the common area and sleeping there. He was described between 40 and 50 years of age, 6-feet tall and about 200 lbs. Security video captured him carrying in blankets and personal items. Later that evening the reporting party called the police to say when they reviewed their video surveillance they saw two additional people inside the common area. These men were described dressed in rags. Police said they would provide additional patrols to the area.

5:00 p.m. — A caller requested a welfare check for a man walking in Cross River by the bait shop dressed all in black. Police attempted to interact with him but he wasn’t interested in talking to them other than to say he was fine and not in distress.
