Lewisboro Police Report June 2-8

Unknown visitor 

On Wednesday, June 4, at 5:15 p.m., a resident of Cross Pond Road, South Salem, reported  her home video surveillance captured an unknown middle-aged woman with long gray hair walking around her property. The camera also captured her vehicle, a red convertible. It appears she remained on the property about 11 minutes, never ringing the doorbell or attempting to contact the resident. Police told the resident to call them if she returned. It was also suggested she place a “No Trespassing” sign prominently on her property. 


Monday, June 2

8:25 a.m. — A citizen turned in a set of keys found in the parking lot of a government building in town; the keys were wet, indicating they’d been out overnight in the rain. Using an Ace rewards tag attached to the fob, police were able to contact the owner and return the keys. 

11:45 a.m. — Police and emergency personnel responded to a residence in Waccabuc after a man fell and briefly lost consciousness. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. 

1:00 p.m. — Fraud was reported at police headquarters by a South Salem woman who showed police a letter she received from Verizon saying she owed money for two iPhones she never purchased. She was in contact with Verizon who said they were opening a fraud case. Police advised her that if she were to receive notification about a package being delivered to notify the police. 

3:05 p.m. — A resident of South Salem reported a rubber stamp signature pad was missing from their residence. He was concerned someone took it and was using it improperly. A report was made. 

6:35 p.m. — Two males were reported recklessly riding dirtbikes in the vicinity of Lake Path, South Salem. They were pointed out standing in front of a home on Grandview Road. The youths showed police their John Jay High School IDs and police reminded them of the illegality of their behavior. Both sets of parents were spoken to and warned that if it happens again, the kids’ bikes would be impounded. An hour and a half later one of the fathers came to the station to report a neighbor who put his hands on the handlebars of his son’s bike and grabbed his son’s wrist. Police spoke to the man who denied touching the boy. No further action was taken. 


Tuesday, June 3

10:08 a.m. — A wallet found at the Mobil Station in South Salem was turned in to police who were unable to make contact with the owner, a Peekskill resident. The wallet was placed into safekeeping. 

12:08 p.m. — A Goldens Bridge resident reported a dog, a Labrador mix, they found in the vicinity of Peach Court. Police brought the dog to the South Salem veterinary clinic where she was turned over to staff. The town clerk was notified. 

1:55 p.m. — Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported a woman possibly having a diabetic emergency from her home in Goldens Bridge to Northern Westchester Hospital. She complained of dizziness. 

7:10 p.m. — An injured deer was reported lying under a tarp on West Lane, South Salem. The homeowner told police they put a bowl of water out for the deer to drink and it got up and fled. It was gone on police arrival. 

8:10 p.m. — An Elmwood Road caller reported a fawn had been in the same position in their yard for many hours. Police arrived and it got up and walked around. The officer told the caller it probably was separated from its mother who likely would return and they should leave it alone.  


Wednesday, June 4

8:01 a.m. — Police went to a home in Pound Ridge after a female said she slipped on hair oil in her bedroom, fell, and hit her head. Police saw a laceration on her eyebrow and her lip. She was evaluated by Vista EMS and Westchester EMS but then refused transport, saying her dad would drive her to the hospital. 


Thursday, June 5

7:00 a.m. — A commercial vehicle inspection detail was conducted at the Lewisboro Town Park. A state transportation inspector checked five commercial vehicles. Nine tickets were issued to the operators. 

11:05 a.m. — A driver who said they lost control of the wheel causing them to veer off the roadway and strike a utility pole in South Salem was located inside their vehicle in some bushes. Police said the operator crossed both lanes of traffic. A report was made for insurance. The utility was notified. No one was injured. No explanation was offered as to why the driver lost control.  

9:08 p.m. — A female, 87, was taken from her home in Katonah to Northern Westchester Hospital after falling. Her daughter and granddaughter went to her house when she didn’t respond to their calls. The woman was found on the floor of her bedroom; she told police she thought she’d been lying there for about 24 hours. 


Friday, June 6

6:20 p.m. — An officer was flagged down by a parent in Goldens Bridge who asked them to check on their daughter who left the house wearing a backpack. The parent was concerned the girl was getting on a train to go to the city. Police spoke to the girl’s mother who said she was fine and there was no reason for police to interfere. 


Saturday, June 7

7:15 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a report of a woman harming herself. The injured woman was taken by Vista ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.


Sunday, June 8

10:28 a.m. — Neighbors in South Salem who disagree about property lines and cut bushes brought police to the residence. One party told police he’d recently had the property surveyed because he has plans to install a generator. He told the responding officer he plans on installing cameras around the property to better monitor his neighbor’s movements. Police were unable at the time to speak to the other party. 

5:45 p.m. — A South Salem man was taken by Vista ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital after falling at his home and injuring his head. He told first responders he felt dizzy.
