Re-elect Mike Lawler in NY 17

To the Editor:

Mike Lawler has earned another term in Congress, representing our district, NY-17. He has solid track record of fighting antisemitism, pushing back on government overreach/spending, fighting crime, and standing up for parental rights.

The contrast with Mondaire Jones couldn’t be clearer. Lawler is ranked the fourth most bipartisan in the House (per Luger Index), while Jones was ranked as the third most left wing congressman (per GovTrack). While Jones only had one bill enacted, Lawler has had four sponsored bills signed into law, including a special envoy to the Abraham Accords between Israel and four Arab neighbors, which Lawler partnered with Ritchie Torres (D, NY-15). Finally, while Jones voted for the excessive spending that added $5 trillion to our nation’s debt and helped cause 17 percent cumulative inflation (during Jones’ tenure in Congress), Lawler protects taxpayers by pushing back, spearheading the fight to restore the SALT deduction. Lawler protects taxpayers by pushing back, spearheading the fight to restore the SALT deduction.

Lawler stands up for Jews and Israel, critical given the surge in antisemitism in New York since Oct. 7. He spoke out on Columbia’s campus and led the effort to reinstate sanctions on Iranian oil, which funds terrorism. He speaks out against the Biden/Harris open border policy given the associated rise in public cost, crime, and sex trafficking that comes with illegal immigration and can’t be dismissed. He defends Title IX, championing girls’ sports to ensure the generations of women who fought for equality don’t see their dreams dashed by boys taking over, which Proposition 1 threatens. As for abortion, Lawler does not support a national ban and has introduced a bill to protect IVF. Further, Lawler has made it clear abortion is already protected here in New York.

Please join me in re-electing Mike Lawler.

Congress with Mondaire Jones gets things done

To the Editor:

When Mondaire Jones was in Congress the previous congressional term (the 117th Congress), he and the rest of his party passed a lot of bills into law. They passed the Inflation Reduction Act that among other things, helps the planet deal with climate change. They passed the infrastructure bill, which former President Trump always wanted but failed to pass when he was in office. They also passed a gun control bill and a bunch of other good bills too like the CHIPS & Science Act.

In contrast, in the current congress (The 118th Congress), Representative Mike Lawler and his party have gotten very little done. In fact, to get anything significant done like to avoid a debt default, the Republican House Speaker needed support from the Democrats. That goes to show you that another term of Congress where Mike Lawler and his fellow republicans are in charge will be unproductive, to say the least.

So, on one hand you have the 117th Congress and, on the other, you have the 118th Congress. Which begs two questions: Which kind of Congress would you rather have? And which kind of Congress do you want the 119th Congress to be like? The answer for both is the 117th, of course. So please cast your vote for Mondaire Jones and send him back to Washington so he and other Democrats can get back to work and finish the job they started.
