BCSD tax increase ‘unfair burden’ for Pound Ridge
To the Editor:
There is a simple explanation for the much lower voter support for the Bedford Central School District budget in Pound Ridge: the large and disparate increase in school taxes in Pound Ridge, which are much higher than for the other affected towns. As none of our towns have significant changes in real estate inventory or major differences in property value changes, the 9-plus percent increase to Pound Ridge appears to be an unfair burden on its taxpayers.
I urge The Recorder to report on the state, county or local rules that result in such disparate treatments of the towns within the BCSD. What are these regulations, what have been the effects over the years, and how can they be changed?
