Competition spells suspense at BVES

Bedford Village Elementary School recently held its annual spelling bee. Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders competed into the evening hours. BVES moms, announcers and judges, Lindsay Hearon and Katie Sweeney delivered hundreds of words, one by one, to the excited kids for over two hours. Fourth grade in particular provided fireworks for the crowd when first and second place winners went 11 rounds until a winner was finally decided. 

Here are the winners:

Third-grade winning word was “playmate.”

1st Sylvie Cistecky

2nd Jagger Schwartz

3rd  Elliott Sohn

Fourth-grade winning word was “cyclone.”

1st Harry Trotta

2nd Harry Goard

3rd Dylan Forrest

Fifth-grade winning word was “supreme.”

1st Sydney Zaro

2nd Stella Catoliato

3rd, a three-way tie with Luca Schwartz, Stella Blair, Lexi Hirsh
