Bette Frankenfelder Bonné, 81, died of natural causes on July 26 in Windsor, Vt.

Bette Jane Frankenfelder was born in New York City in 1944, to aRichard and Maxine Toch Frankenfelder, and grew up in White Plains. She attended Syracuse University and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School before receiving her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University. She met Jack N. Bonné at a seder at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. They wed in 1970, and were married for nearly 40 years. They had two children, Jon, and Julie, and moved to Pound Ridge in 1978, where they lived for the next three decades.

Bonné went back to school in 1979, receiving a master’s degree in social work from Hunter College. She began a professional life, first as a social worker and counselor, and then as an administrator at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown, and later as the director of admissions at the Tandet Center in Stamford, Conn. In 1998 she founded her own geriatric-care consultancy, GeriCare Associates.

After her husband’s death, she moved to Naples, Fla., where she grew active in the local Jewish community. She then briefly relocated to California, before moving to Vermont in 2021.

Bonné is survived by her children, Julie, of Healdsburg, Calif., and Jon, of Philadelphia and Paris; and her sister, Marjory (Stephen) Bissette, of Windsor, Vt.

Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, Vt., is handling arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at knightfuneralhomes.com.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to Planned Parenthood at weareplannedparenthodaction.org
