Mahopac man charged with stealing ID, fraud
On Wednesday, May 14, a resident of Baldwin Lane, Mahopac, male, 24, was arrested at his residence charged with unlawful possession of personal ID, which, police said, he stole April 19 while working at a medical office on South Bedford Road, Bedford. Police say he used credit card information from a patient/client to make fraudulent purchases totalling hundreds of dollars from unnamed businesses. He was taken to headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance. He returns to court May 21.
Monday, May 12
8:05 a.m. — A dead cat was reported on Pound Ridge Road, Bedford. The dog control officer discovered it on the side of the road and collected it to be scanned to determine if it was someone’s pet but the cat wasn’t chipped.
11:09 a.m. — A female, 11, was reported lost after she chased her dog into the woods behind her home. Multiple units from Bedford and Lewisboro police including the Bedford UTV were deployed to search for her. The child and the dog were assisted by a citizen who notified the police that she was located.
9:04 p.m. — A resident of Anderson Road, Katonah, came to headquarters to report they have been dealing with a fraud issue for many months after a person they seem to know has been using their personal information to apply for loans and credit cards. The complainant said they have hired a lawyer to help them deal with this and requested a police report for documentation.
Tuesday, May 13
12:15 p.m. — An officer on patrol in downtown Katonah was asked to assist a woman trying to get her husband, who has Alzheimer’s disease, into their car. The man was being resistant. Their daughter was also summoned to assist and the man did get into the car without further incident.
5:30 p.m. — A female, 12, from Bedford Hills, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital via Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for evaluation after having an emotional episode at home. Her mother told police she has a medical history and is on medication.
11:04 p.m. — Housemates who can’t get along brought police to a shared residence on North Street, Katonah. No further information was provided.
Wednesday, May 14
1:33 p.m. — A wild turkey reported injured on Old Cross River Road, Katonah, ran off when police approached.
6:44 p.m. — A caller on Harris Road, Katonah, reported they were being harassed when police located an airtag someone had placed on their car. Police are investigating who could be the culprit. The airtag was placed in a property locker at the police station.
Thursday, May 15
12:59 p.m. — A teenage boy, reported to be combative by his mother at his home in Bedford Hills, was calm on police arrival. He told an officer he is on medication which sometimes makes him feel sick and anxious. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
6:33 p.m. — Two men were taken to area hospitals after a head-on collision on Mclain Street, Bedford Hills. One man, 61, from Greenwich, Conn., was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps after complaining of chest, back and neck pain. The other man, 48, from Pound Ridge, was taken by KBHVAC to Northern Westchester Hospital, complaining of pain to his back, neck and foot. Police say one driver was traveling northbound on the street; he told police he was following the curvature of the road. The other driver said that operator was speeding and drove over pavement markings, crashing head-on into his car. Both vehicles were towed and no one was cited.
Friday, May 16
10:14 a.m. — A male, 73, from Florida, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps after injuring his hip while playing pickleball.
2:30 p.m. — A resident of Meadow Lane, Katonah, came to headquarters to complain about a neighbor they say drives too fast and harasses them. Police listened to their story and advised them there was no harassment.
9:58 p.m. — Police went to the carnival on the grounds of the Hawthorn School on Old Post Road, Bedford, for a report of a possible fight. On arrival, they were told the combatants had moved their argument to the Bedford Memorial Park but dispersed before police arrived.
Saturday, May 17
12:55 p.m. — A person came to headquarters to report an incident at a carnival the night before. They said they were approached by their friend’s ex-girlfriend, resulting in an argument that turned physical when a slushy was thrown. The parties were separated and no one was injured. The reporting party said they wanted to document the incident.
4:33 p.m. — An ATV was reported speeding on West Patent Road, Bedford Hills. The officer searched with negative results.
5:26 p.m. — Another involved party with the carnival slushy-throwing incident came to headquarters to tell their version of the story. A report was made for documentation.
10:04 p.m. — A resident of Guard Hill Road, Bedford, called police to report a possible intruder inside the house after hearing a loud crash coming from the top floor. Police searched the interior and exterior of the home and said there was no sign of illegal entry or evidence of an intruder.
10:46 p.m. — Police went to a home on Old Katonah Drive, Katonah, after a father and son had a physical altercation over the son’s use of a vape pen. The father told police he’d seen videos of his son vaping. The son did not deny what happened but both parties were calm and agreed to stay in the house together but apart for the remainder of the night. A New York state domestic incident report was completed and child protective services notified.
Sunday, May 18
9:44 a.m. — Wind lifted and blew an outside patio umbrella in front of a bakery on Katonah Avenue, Katonah, against a car parked in front of the establishment, resulting in a large dent. The owner of the car went into the bakery to speak with the owner who was busy at the moment. An employee wrote down all the pertinent information and said the owner would be in touch. A report of the incident was made for documentation.
9:19 p.m. — Police spoke with the operator of a black SUV reported in the Katonah Memorial Park after dark. The driver didn’t know the park was closed and left shortly after.
