Ex-girlfriend violates stay away order
A resident of White Plains, female, 46, was arrested Thursday, Dec. 26, at 9:30 a.m., when she turned herself in at police headquarters to be charged with criminal contempt for violating a stay away order. Police said that on Dec. 17 she entered the Babbitt Road business of her former boyfriend and began blaming him for personal problems she is currently experiencing; he was not in the building at the time. When contacted by police on that date, she said that she would turn herself in after Christmas. She was arraigned in court by a judge who set bail at $2,500; unable to pay, she was taken to the county jail and is scheduled to return to court Jan. 8.
Monday, Dec. 23
10:27 a.m. — A caller on Croton Lake Road, Katonah, requested assistance with a package they received via UPS that had their address, but the wrong name. They said no one by that name resides at the residence. Police advised them to contact UPS directly to pick up the package. The caller said this isn’t the first time packages have been delivered to this individual’s name with their address.
1:54 p.m. — A resident of North Salem, female, 57, fell on the sidewalk on Katonah Avenue, injuring her knee and face. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
5:50 p.m. — Westchester County Police requested Bedford Police be on the lookout for a wanted man wearing a blue jacket who was picked up on a license plate reader in the Kohl’s parking lot in Bedford Hills. Police went to the location but neither the man or car were there.
Tuesday, Dec. 24
11:36 a.m. — A male, 10, fainted at his home in Bedford Hills. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters. He told the police he lost consciousness but had no idea why.
2:49 p.m. — A man was reported by a caller on Haines Road, Bedford Hills, as intoxicated and sitting in a minivan. Police on arrival said he did not appear to be under the influence. He told the officer he was panicking because he was looking for his methadone which he thought he might have left in his apartment. No further information was provided.
Wednesday, Dec. 25
5:43 a.m. — A male, 5, reported at his home in Bedford Hills having difficulty breathing was being attended to by a Bedford Hills firefighter medic when police arrived. His parents declined further assistance.
11:10 p.m. — A male, 52, was transported from his home in Bedford Hills to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a vomiting condition.
Thursday, Dec. 26
11:49 a.m. — A silent panic alarm was activated at a residence on McLain Street, Bedford Hills. On police arrival the homeowner said he’d accidentally set it off while setting up interior cameras.
7:46 p.m. — A resident of Eastlake Drive, Katonah, female, 72, was pronounced dead at her home after police were alerted by her friend for a welfare check. The friend said she hadn’t heard from the woman for some time. Entry was made and the woman was found on the floor, deceased. The woman’s son was contacted and said his mother had multiple health issues. The house appeared in order and no foul play was indicated.
Friday, Dec. 28
10:15 a.m. — Neighbors argued in a parking lot on Rome Avenue, Bedford Hills; there was some name calling but nothing physical. Police told them to leave each other alone. They said partly the argument was over a cigarette one of them was smoking.
2:50 p.m. — An resident of Armonk, female, 49, was arrested at 2:50 p.m., charged with driving while intoxicated. Police received a report of an erratic driver who struck another car in the area of Valerio Court and Bedford Road. Police spoke first to the driver of the struck car, who wasn’t injured. The defendant, also not injured, told police she was aware she was in a collision but didn’t know what happened. Police observed her glassy, bloodshot eyes and she admitted she’d consumed alcohol and showed them a bottle she was carrying in her handbag. She failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. Due to her level of intoxication, EMS was requested and she was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps where she was issued three summonses. Her car was impounded. She is scheduled to be in court Jan. 8.
5:21 p.m. — Police went to a car wash on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, after the manager reported a driver rear-ended another vehicle while inside the car wash. The woman denied she’d hit the car in front of her, but cameras in the car wash showed otherwise. The other car was damaged. A police report was made of the incident.
Saturday, Dec. 28
2:36 a.m. — A one-car crash in Bedford Hills resulted in multiple injuries. The operator told police they were traveling west on Pines Bridge Road when they came across black ice, causing them to lose control of the vehicle, a GMC Suburban, crashing into rocks. Airbags were deployed. Police say there were eight passengers in the car. A male, 21, from Eastchester was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for head and facial injuries; a second male, 21, from Scarsdale, was also taken to the medical center by KVAC for head injuries; a female, 21, from New Milford, N.J., was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by KVAC as a precaution; and a female, 19, from Rockville was also taken to the medical center by KVAC as a precaution. No further information was provided.
4:12 a.m. — A female, 25, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters after injuring her head slipping on ice.
Sunday, Dec. 29
8:18 a.m. — A passerby reported smoke coming from a house on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. The homeowner explained to police their heating exhaust system emits clouds of steam that resemble smoke and there was no fire.
1:24 p.m. — A female, 65, who fell at her residence in Bedford Hills was not in need of assistance; as the woman is nonverbal, her caregiver was concerned she might need help, but fortunately, she didn’t.
7:41 p.m. — A teenage girl from North Salem was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps after her father reported her to be very upset and emotional when he was picking her up at the train station. He told police she’d had some difficulty with her friends and ran back on the train and he had to run after her. Police say she volunteered to go to the hospital for evaluation.
