Youngster scratched by a rooster

On Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7:29 a.m., a woman reported that her child, 4, was scratched by a rooster on Christopher Road, Bedford Hills. She said the rooster lives nearby. Police observed some scratches on the child’s thigh. The mother declined medical attention (she said the school nurse would look at it) but requested that the incident be documented. Police spoke first with the landscaper on the chicken’s property, who put them in touch with the homeowner, who said he would speak to his landscaper to keep the rooster better contained.

No peddling without a permit

On Saturday, Aug. 16, police arrested a resident of White Plains, male, 22, with peddling in Katonah. Multiple people notified police that day about two men, one described as having a mustache, soliciting for a pest control company. That man was spoken to by police who advised him he would need a permit to peddle. He said he understood; his company was notified and said they would get the required permits, but they did not comply. A second man who works for the same company was also cited the same day for peddling in the area. Police say he is 23 years old and from Jefferson City, Mo. Both men are scheduled to appear in Bedford town court Sept. 16.

Only in late July did the woman discover her handbags were not in the box.
