As expected, Bedford Central's leaders will stay in office for another year

The news about the Fox Lane High School gym’s cracked concrete was unexpected at the July 22 reorganizational meeting of the Bedford Central Board of Education, but the results of the board’s selection of officers for the year was not.

Gilian Klein, the incumbent, was nominated and elected unanimously to another term as board president. Klein has served the district as a trustee since July, 2022, and as board president since 2024.

The incumbent vice president, Steven Matlin, was also nominated and unanimously elected to another year in the post. Matlin has served as a trustee since July, 2021, and first became vice president in 2023.

Matlin is currently the longest serving member of the board, and Klein’s tenure is matched only by trustee Blakeley Lowry.

Of the remaining trustees, Lisa Mitchell has served since July, 2024; Leo Sposato has served since May, 2025; Prasad Krishnan since July, 2025; and the newest trustee, Erin Hayes, was sworn in on July 1.
