Paul Revere rides again!

Rochambeau Farm was alive with history, community and celebration during the Paul Revere’s Ride event on April 18. Hosted by the Bedford Historical Society and the Friends of John Jay Homestead, in partnership with the Bedford Riding Lanes Association and Two Lights for Tomorrow, the event included a rendition of the Longfellow poem about Revere’s historic ride in 1775 which marked the start of the Revolutionary War. The famous poem was woven into the day's storytelling by actor Trent Dawson of Katonah Classic Stage. At the event, families enjoyed historical games, crafted tin can lanterns, and enjoyed the horse reenactments.

Clued in to history

More than 50 families participated in the Second Annual Great Bedford History Hunt co-hosted by Bedford Historical Society last Sunday. Children solved clues that led them on a hunt through the Village and ended with treats, treasures and tours at the 1787 Court House & Bedford Museum. “It was a great opportunity for families to learn more about our past and enjoy the many treasures in the Court House and Museum,” noted Liz Hallock, the society’s executive director. “Events like this really bring history to life in the community,” she added. Bedford Village Chowder and Marching Club co-hosted the event.
