Two new trustees elected to Library Board

The Pound Ridge Library Board of Trustees has two new members.
On Sept. 22, Janis Knorr and Lisa Erickson won the seats, with each receiving 42 votes, including absentee ballots.
Coming up short in the three-person race was Donald Check, who received 29 votes.

Knorr and Erickson will serve three-year terms.
Six-year trustee Richard Levan recently resigned from the board and two-term incumbent trustee Anne Benefico was barred from running for reelection this year because a Pound Ridge Library trustee cannot serve for more than six consecutive years.
Erickson explained why she thought she was elected on Sept. 23.
“I believe people can appreciate that I have had roots in this town, and my fellow Pound Ridgers, friends of decades or even a couple of years, voted for me because they know my enthusiasm will be behind ideas and initiatives to best serve our town residents,” she said.
“I am honored for the voters’ approval and look forward to the opportunity to give back and continue with the team of the Pound Ridge Library’s successes,” Erickson said.
Erickson said recently that she has been an “on and off” Pound Ridge resident for 58 years and a library patron since childhood.
Knorr also was pleased with the election results.
“As a first-time candidate, I was excited to have learned this morning that I was elected to serve,” she said Wednesday. “It was my first experience going through the library election process and I have great appreciation for the library staff who helped make it easy to access and secure. I hope future library elections will attract many more voters.”
A Colgate University graduate, Erickson’s career has ranged from community outreach and sales for hospitals, business development for home care companies, benefit advisor for insurance companies and, most recently, she worked in senior living communities helping new residents move in and acclimate to their new home, she stated.
Knorr, who has lived in town for about 20 years, said recently that she retired from full-time employment over six years ago and she has volunteered in various capacities in Pound Ridge. She said she and her mother use the library on a regular weekly basis, and that she’d work collaboratively to help the library to continue to grow.
