Tri-Festa, Bedford’s community event of the year, returns Sept. 21

Saturday, Sept. 21, marks the return of Bedford’s largest community event of the year, Tri-Festa.

The Bedford Recreation and Parks Department intends to have Tri-Festa live up to its slogan: “Three hamlets, three times the fun!”

The event is a celebration of the town and its three hamlets: Bedford Hills, Bedford Village and Katonah.

The festivities will take place at Bedford Hills Memorial Park, located at 60 Haines Road, Bedford Hills, from 3:30 to   8 pm. There will be food trucks, live music, a beer and wine garden, children’s games, family entertainment, community organizations and more.

All town residents and their guests are welcome to attend. Past Tri-Festa events have had more than 1,200 people on hand.

Tri-Festa is designed to be accessible and welcoming to everyone.

“We are proud to share that there will be a ‘Zen-Zone’ with fidgets, ear plugs, weighted blankets and BluePath service dogs, facilitated by the town’s Inclusive Initiative,” organizers said.

Bedford 2030 is working with the town to ensure that Tri-Festa will be a zero-waste event, and is calling on volunteers to help reduce waste by signing up for just two hours to help community members dispose of trash correctly. Those who sign up will receive a $25 food voucher. For more information, visit bedfordny.gov

Organizers said there are still opportunities for local businesses and nonprofits to sponsor this event and reach hundreds of community members.

Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display.

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.
