Towns, county to hold 9/11 commemorations

Westchester County
An interfaith prayer vigil will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m., at The Rising and 9/11 First Responders Memorial at Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla.
Faith leaders will lead prayers, followed by candle lighting and a wreath-laying ceremony. The next day, a separate memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., featuring remarks, music and a reading of the names of Westchester residents who died on 9/11 or from 9/11-related illnesses. Earlier that day, from 10 to 11 a.m., the Friends of The Kensico Cemetery will host a commemorative service at the cemetery to honor the victims, families and survivors of the attacks.
Vista/South Salem
The Vista Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Memorial Service on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m., at the Vista Firehouse, located at 377 Smith Ridge Road, South Salem. The department will have a wreath-laying ceremony at its Sept. 11 memorial behind the firehouse, which is open to the public.
Pound Ridge
The town will hold its annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at noon, at Sachs Park. The ceremony will honor those lost in the attacks and recognize the service and sacrifices of those who responded in the aftermath.
