Timothy M. Mahin, 84, lived in Pound Ridge 40 years

Timothy Miller Mahin, 84, died at his home in Southbury, Conn., on July 29, attended by his family. 

He was born in Los Angeles on Aug. 17, 1941, the son of screenwriter John Lee Mahin and actress Patsy Ruth Miller. His longtime stepfather was Effingham S. Deans. 

He grew up in New York City and Stamford, Conn. 

Mahin was a graduate of Trinity Pawling School (1959) and Dartmouth College (1963). He was also a member of the National Guard. 

A newspaper writer and editor, Mahin worked at The Stamford Advocate, The Darien News, Texasgulf Inc., Millward Brown Group, and Greenfield Marketing, all in Fairfield County. 

He was also a creative writer, specializing in short stories, and was published in Sports Illustrated. 

Having traveled extensively in Spain and Mexico, Mahin was a lifelong aficionado of bullfighting, often participating in the sport himself.

A Pound Ridge resident for 40 years, he is survived by his current wife, Elaine (Reilly) Mahin; his daughters, Maria Christensen, and Christine Mahin; his grandchild, Owen Christensen; and his first wife, Marylu (Gain) Dadakis. Services will be private.
