Cabbage Hill gala: Rooted & Rising

With many programs based at Cabbage Hill Farm in Mount Kisco, the organization that teaches children all about gardening and cooking will host its second annual gala at the Hotel MTK Saturday, Oct. 17, from 5 to 10 p.m. Called Rooted & Rising, the event begins with an open bar and silent auction, followed by guest speakers, dinner, photo booth and dancing with DJ Derrick De La Hoz. Launched over three years ago, For the People & Kids partners with local educators, farms, gardens, organizations, schools, museums and community hubs, to create nature-based experiences where children and families can grow, learn, and belong side-by-side.

Cross River’s new ice cream option

The Creamery, created by the owner of The Boro Café in Cross River, opened Sept. 5. Expect a variety of ice cream flavors, nostalgia candy and specialty treats. The goal is to create a community spot for people throughout the day, including a sweet treat after dinner, John Swertfager, owner of The Boro Café, said in a press release. The Creamery is located at 873 Route 35, Cross River.
