STAFF REPORTS
More than 16 inches of snow blanketed parts of northern Westchester on Sunday in the massive storm that moved across dozens of states.
The heavy snow began winding down in the evening, but more snow, sleet and frozen rain followed into the early hours Monday.
Northern Westchester saw more than a foot fall in most places. A National Weather Service trained spotter reported 16.5 inches in Goldens Bridge by 8 p.m. Sunday.
The weather service said frigid temperatures, dipping as low as 3 degrees overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, are expected through the week.
The area appears to have dodged major power outages and crashes on its roads as of Sunday night, police reported. High winds were not part of the forecast. ConEd and NYSEG had no outages in northern Westchester on Sunday night. Anyone who needs to report an outage can go to coned.com or nyseg.com.
The Bedford Central and Katonah-Lewisboro school districts will be closed Monday, as will many government offices.
Westchester County's Bee-Line Bus system and ParaTransit services will resume at 10 a.m. Monday.
All county offices are closed Monday.
Officials have asked that people keep off the roads until crews have had a chance to clear them, abide by local parking regulations, and to not push or throw snow from driveways and sidewalks

into or across the roadway.
And medical officials have again reminded people, especially the elderly, about the dangers of shoveling snow, which is very strenuous.
Lewisboro
Town offices are closed Monday.
Town Court sessions are cancelled.
A decision on whether the Town Board will meet will be made by early afternoon.
"Avoid unnecessary travel so road crews and first responders can effectively and safely do their jobs to assist our community," Deputy Supervisor Mary Shah posted Sunday night on Facebook. "If you must go outside be safe and aware of signs/symptoms of hypothermia and stay off the roads. There are no plans at this time for in town charging/warming centers."
Pound Ridge
Pound Ridge’s Town House will be closed.
“But we’ll open it as a warming center if someone loses power or needs to work remotely,” Supervisor Kevin Hansan said Sunday night.
He knew of no major incidents or outages in Pound Ridge.
“No news is good news,” he said.
Hansan said about 6 p.m. Sunday that it appeared at least a foot fell of snow had fallen.
Bedford
Police reported no major incidents in Bedford. The Fire Department warned everyone to stay off the roads.
Bedford’s town offices will be closed Monday.
“Please do not travel unless necessary as roadway and weather conditions are predicted to be dangerous. This keeps the roadways open for emergency response, snow removal and all who must travel to do so as safely as possible!” the town said in a website post. “Please help us remove the expected accumulation of snow by removing your vehicles from the roadway and adhering to the Town’s snow ordinance. Vehicles which remain on the roadway are subject to being summoned or possibly towed due to snow removal needs.”
Mount Kisco
On Friday, Village Manager Ed Brancati declared a snow emergency through Monday at noon, prohibiting parking on any street. Motorists may park in any of the village’s municipal lots for free as long as the emergency is in effect. Parking enforcement has been suspended for Monday.
The declaration also requires that property owners refrain from depositing any snow onto the plowed portion of a street. Owners are also responsible for the actions of their contractors who plow their property.
Multiple warming centers will be operating in anticipation of continued frigid temperatures. The Mount Kisco Public Library operated on Sunday afternoon as a warming station while being closed for all other services.
The library, at 100 E. Main St., will continue to serve as a warming center Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Two other locations will also be opened as warming spaces throughout the week — the Fox Senior Center at 198 Carpenter Ave. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Piergostini multipurpose room in Leonard Park, 1 Wallace Drive, Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. and noon to 4:15 p.m.; and Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There will be no recycling pickup on Monday. Instead, bottles and cans will be taken away throughout the village on Tuesday and paper recycling will be picked up village-wide on Wednesday.
