Marcia B. Randol, who lived with her husband, William, in Bedford for 30 years, died in Southport, Conn., on Oct. 11, after a multi-year bout with dementia. She was 81.
Randol was born in New Britain, Conn., on Oct. 4, 1944, to Victor and Vanja (Palmgren) Baylock. She graduated from the MacDuffie school in Granby, Mass., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
Randol’s family said she eschewed the trappings of an advantaged community, instead taking in children of incarcerated mothers to allow for family visits, mentoring children, distributing food to the hungry, and tirelessly serving on the altar guild.
She volunteered at the Junior League of Westchester, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mount Kisco, the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, Graham-Windham in Hastings-on-Hudson, and the Rippowam-Cisqua School.
She is survived by sons Ben (Jane) and Jeremy (Jesse), six grandchildren, and Gordon, “little brother.”
