Luzio, McGuirk widen leads in Mount Kisco trustee race

By MARTIN WILBUR
Mount Kisco Democrats Tom Luzio and Michael McGuirk appear to be on their way to victory, comfortably leading in their race for two Village Board seats.
Updated vote totals from the Westchester County Board of Elections on Friday morning showed that Luzio and McGuirk had widened their leads, collecting 2,077 and 2026 votes, respectively.
Mount Kisco United candidates Sean Moran received 913 votes and running mate Jennifer Vallejos had 896.
Counting was delayed countywide as a result of polling place scanning machine problems on Election Day that forced many ballots to be brought to Board of Elections offices in Ardsley.
Luzio, the village’s Democratic Committee chair who is in line to win a second two-year term, thanked voters for their support and for recognizing their efforts on the campaign and in service to the community.
“I’m really proud of the many things we did, the positivity that we brought to this campaign,” Luzio said Tuesday. “I think as a final lesson, I think folks recognize the hard work that we put in in 2026, that we were listening to residents at events, front porches, the train station and overwhelmingly we were positive about the future of Mount Kisco.”
McGuirk, a five-year Planning Board member and its current chair, said he believed that the upbeat nature of their campaign translated to many residents feeling optimistic about the village despite the challenges it faces. After meeting hundreds of voters, he said he was pleasantly surprised that residents are happy to be Mount Kisco residents.
“They’re happy to live there, they love living there and they want to be involved,” McGuirk said. “They want to know what’s going on, they’re not sharing the concerns that are so prevalent online in certain groups. I guess that was a pleasant surprise to me because that’s how I feel, too. Certainly, there are concerns and we need to work on any number of issues and make life better for folks in the village, but we all kind of love living there and we’re happy to continue
