Grateful in Mount Kisco for local coverage 

To the Editor:

Your coverage of the Leonard Park Tea House renovation and update on the Preston Way bridge were particularly enlightening. I had long hoped village leadership would provide signs at each of these locations to let the community know the status of each project. As an example, the Tea House had fencing around its perimeter for so long and it looked like the work had stopped. A simple upbeat and bold sign that gave us notice that this beautiful, historic structure was undergoing a planned renovation would have been nice. Instead, many of us were wondering what was going on. The same goes for the bridge.

In short, your coverage gave me what I needed — information. I would ask our Village to strongly consider signs that would do the same. In a way that makes us feel like we are moving forward and not stuck, just waiting for something to happen.

Seeking help navigating state health plan 

To the Editor:

My wife and I have been on New York State Market Health Plan since Jan. 1, 2026. On Sept. 1, 2026, I will be on Medicare. On Aug. 19, 2026, my wife called our plan to see if anything needs to be changed. The plan forwarded us to New York State Health Plan Market (New York State) number and the representative said we need to terminate our current couples plan and my wife would go on a single plan.

We did the application online and the representative said my wife would be on the single plan as of Oct. 1, 2026, and the couples plan would continue till Sept. 30, 2026. The next day the New York State Portal sent an email modifying the couple’s plan and it would be terminated Aug. 31, 2026, for both of us!

I called New York state again and the representative said she submitted a ticket for a new single plan for my wife and to call back in a week if we do not hear anything from New York state. Of course, nothing happened and I called New York state today and now a new representative said the couples plan would go to Sept. 30, and my wife would not be cut off from health insurance. I called Assemblyman Burdick’s office. A person gave me the number of Community Healthcare Advocates and they took an intake and will call tomorrow. State Sen. Peter Harckham’s office, the governor’s office and both state senator’s offices were called and were unable to help.
