Subdividing Reynolds property would be a shame
To the Editor:
It seems such a shame to develop the Reynolds sisters’ property with 14 homes and a gate (!!!) when it could serve a much better purpose. How lovely for Lewisboro if it could be used for recreation, another entrance to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, and, if the house was included, a place for the seniors to meet since that has been decoupled from the new Board of Education plan for Lewisboro Elementary School. Could the town, with help from state Sen. Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Chris Burdick, possibly put together funding from Westchester County, the DEP (both stakeholders) and the town and private donors to buy the parcel? Letting this historic parcel go to development seems a very big missed opportunity to me. If you agree, please write to our town supervisor (supervisor@lewisborony.gov) or the Planning Board (planning@lewisborony.gov) and let them know.

Hold Lawler accountable for lack of foresight
To the Editor:
Congressman Mike Lawler must think that whatever we receive from the government is free. That includes everything from highway repair to healthcare. How else can you explain his constant boast that taxes are being cut?
It’s not that the federal government no longer needs the money. It’s that Mike Lawler, following Donald Trump’s lead, wants to yank every dollar from the wheels of government — and to hell with the fact that it will definitely add trillions of dollars to the national debt and reduce vital services.
Have you ever wondered who’s going to pay off our debts? Future generations, that’s who. To be sure, there are some Democrats who would do the same thing, but Lawler is in Congress now. And so, he must be held accountable for his lack of financial foresight.
