Francis Patrick Riordan of Pound Ridge dies at 88

Francis Patrick Riordan died at his home in Pound Ridge at the age of 88.
He was born in Bellmore, N.Y., on Aug. 13, 1937, to the late Thomas Riordan and Roseanne Tomany Riordan. He grew up in Lawrence, N.Y., with four siblings, John, Tom, Rosemarie and Pat.
Riordan was the first in his family to attend college and graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, and began a career in publishing. He worked at Chilton Company and ABC Publishing before starting his own business, which he ran with his family until his retirement in 2009.
Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Peggy Longley Riordan.They married in 1966 and moved from Long Island to Pound Ridge, where they cultivated lifelong friendships and raised their three children, Chris Riordan (Tracy), Timothy Riordan (Eileen) and Melissa Louis (George). He also is survived by seven grandchildren.
Frank was an avid golfer and played year-round between New York and their winter retreat in HIghland Beach, Fla.
His family said he will be remembered for his warmth, kindness and gratitude.
