Caramoor’s Music & Meditation in the Garden returns next month for its sixth summer season. It invites audiences to reconnect with themselves through guided meditation and live music in the serenity of the Sunken Garden.
The series takes place on three Saturday mornings, July 5, 12 and 19, at 11 a.m. It pairs short meditations led by mindfulness teacher Jennifer Llewellyn with performances by musicians.
“We tune in to our breath, the sounds of the garden, and a sense of inner calm,” Llewellyn said.
She is the founder of Majestic Hudson, a wellness studio in Katonah. “The idea is to prepare the body and mind to receive the music on a deeper level.”
The setting at Caramoor is tranquil. Guests are encouraged to power down their devices and tune in to the natural world around them.
This year’s musical guests include viola duo Tallā Rouge on July 5, blending Persian and Cajun traditions; flutist Alex Sopp and violinist Austin Wulliman on July 12, whose dialogue in sound is equal parts imaginative and meditative; and cellist Gabriel Cabezas with guitarist Jordan Dodson on July 19, celebrated for their intimate, contemporary performances.
Structured without applause or interruptions, the programs begin with a guided meditation after which the concert unfolds as a continuous listening experience, followed by reflections from the musicians.
“It’s about creating space — for deep listening, for reflection, for connection,” said Caramoor Artistic Director Kathy Schuman.
Caramoor is located at 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah. For tickets and more information, visit caramoor.org.
